Recap of the Weekend

Pat Cantwell catching on his Birthday

Coming out of any weekend 3-1 is a good weekend, especially in conference. Playing against a conference rival in Maine was not going to be the easiest weekend and we knew that going in. Without a true home field we split the weekend at Dowling on Saturday and Adelphi on Sunday. We came out of the gates with another great performance by Nick Tropeano and a win in game one on Saturday (8-1). Game 2 came down to extra innings and was eventually called tied at 7 entering the 11th due to darkness. So Sunday we had to finish up that game and then play the regularly scheduled double header. Brandon McNitt was on the hill to finish up the game and threw 2 scoreless innings to earn the win, his first of 2 on the day. The win came on a walk-off suicide squeeze by Maxx Tissenbaum (Video Below). Game one of the regular double header was a matter of them getting key hits and us being shut down by their starting pitching, we took the loss (7-3). Game 2 however there was no dwelling on the previous game as we came out with a vengeance. Led by Brandon McNitt again, who tossed 7 shutout innings, and some solid offensive production, including a home run by Steve Marino,  we pulled out the victory (7-0). Overall the weekend was a positive as we took 2 of 3 from one of the tougher conference opponents.
